Hi, I am new to the forum. I am looking to knock the dust off my scanner and program it for the Fourth Precinct in Suffolk County NY. If anyone could provide me with the frequencies of dispatch, car to car and copter I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

John

Thanks for your thorough and speedy reply. It looks like I have a lot to learn. I have not been in touch with this in a while. I guess things have changed. I was expecting to hear frequency numbers like 162.55 (I think that is or was NOAH years ago). I have a old (emphasis on old) Bearcat Bc-170 and an only slightly newer Radio Shack Pro-51 portable. My guess is that these may be obsolete at this point?

Get thee to the RR Wiki and read up on trunking. That will ease your reentry into the hobby a great deal. Good luck!

And, yes, in your area the scanners you mention are obsolete for public safety monitoring. You can still used them for other types of monitoring, though.

Suffolk does simulcast a few freqs on the old VHF channels.

One to leave on would be 155.685 - its the SCPD "Command" Freq.
You'll Hear Highway, ESU, Aviation, Marine, K-9 on that freq.

Its basically all i leave on for Suffolk....when I want to keep things quiet
Between now and when you get a new scanner, feel free to listen to one of my live feeds..

SCPD is not streamed 24/7, but it is on for most of the day
