It is amazing that Uniden wouldn't produce and sale this part, regardless of what it cost them. I mean they built a scanner with the small battery, many people like that including me, but if anything fails I am forced to a fat azzz one. I mean they still sell batteries from cordless phones from years ago

I got lucky here and found one through the classifieds. Might post a want ad up.

I use the "big booty" one and keep the "skinny minny" as a back up. I always charge in the unit without issues too, despite some claiming otherwise.

I've never actually used mine. I keep it charged in a spare pocket in my radio go-to bag for emergency situations, but I run my SDS100 on usb at all times in my vehicle and I've never had to do a battery switch. Never had charging issues, either, when running mine while charging. I've never even seen one listed for sale on eBay, Etsy, or Pinterest that I can remember. What is the going price for the battery and door? Just curious.

...regardless of what it cost them?" I'm pretty sure Uniden is a for-profit organization. To intentionally produce a money-losing item would certainly be counter-productive. I'm also sure Uniden doesn't produce their own batteries. If there was any money in it, the company that did make the smaller batteries would likely be selling them.

I believe the outcry for smaller batteries is a vocal minority.

I would buy several small batteries if they were available. Many times I don't need more than 3-4 hours of use and the small battery looks and feels good in your hand. My original small battery quit charging after only 6 months of use. I believe many people would buy the small battery and door if it was available as a new item.

I still maintain your part of the vocal minority. I don't think there's enough of a demand for the smaller battery for it to be profitable to bring it back.

The smaller batteries had a bad habit of popping open. That happened to mine while sitting on a desk. I sent it to Uniden to examine per their request. There was a thread of quite a number of people with the same experience.

I went looking on eBay and found no small batteries. Lots of the scanners, however, and some were as high as $970!!

I guess that was a crappy lead huh? Anyhow, I thought of one more thing.; contact Uniden directly. Again, just a thought. Greg

Sorry, Gregg. I think Uniden divorced themselves from the small battery the minute the large battery was made available.

Sorry. I looked at two other places for you but they don't even sell scanners. Have you tried HRO , Best Buy or Zip Scanners? I am now burned out of any more suggestions. Good Luck. Greg

Uniden never sold the small battery as an accessory. It only came with the first batch of 1000 SDS100s. The spare battery/external charger wasn't introduced until the large battery came out, and was only the large battery.

Greg, I'm not looking for the small battery. Mine came with the large one. I also ordered an extra battery with charger and I'm happy as I can be.
