Looking for some advice please

OK, so I'm looking to get either a BCD396T or a BCD996T and would like some advice from all of you. Besides the obvious portability of the handheld, which one would you recommend and why? Are there more features on the 996 that make it more desireable or does it receive weaker signals better than the 396?

Hate to answer a question with another question - but what are you trying to hear? How are you going to use whatever you purchase (in the home, in the car...)? Where are you (city/county/state will do)? If your area isn't going digital, then a BCT15 (little brother to the 996) will do just as well, and it's a whole lot cheaper. What are your interests?

I originally picked the 396T to replace my handheld and now I use it for everything! I use it in my truck and get great reception without an outside antenna. When I get home, I just bring it in and use it in the house. I've been scanning for MANY years and this is the best scanner I've ever owned.
I'm in lower Fairfield County CT and heve everything from the digital trunked state police signal down to Bridgeport PD who is still on 154.725 mhz.
This scanner works on normal batteries, not a battery pack.
If I could aford it I guess I'd get a 996 also just for the fun of it but the 396T is really all I need.
