Evenin',

I'm a newbie...and that's the truth. I bought a BC296D Bearcat scanner, and I've got enough stuff prog'd into it to make it interesting (local police, etc.). If you're in my neck of the woods, I'd be happy to buy you a beer or three if you've got some words of wisdom on how this scanner works. I'm pretty darn sure I can do a lot more with it than I am doing.

Thanks,

...Wireless

Save your beer, lots of hockey to watch today.

Check out the 'STICKY' at the top of the messages in this forum. Those are the instructions to setting up your scanner.

As a suggestion to save space and to enhance your scanner experience I might type put more than one tower in a bank, i.e. punch in the frequs for the Cedarwoods and Guelph towers as well as the towers north of you,

This way you can travel in your area and not usea ll your banks.

Eric,

How do you like your new 296, anyway? It'll be much better going up 'the pen' and being able to hear OPP, huh?

I was planning on heading that way last weekend...then my van got stolen. Damn. They can have it.

Jello: Where do u live in the hammer? Last yr my g-friends crappy van was stolen from ourt lot. We live in downtown west end and the van stolen was a caravan.

We are moving to Toronto in 5 weeks anyway, an entire new city for our cars to be stolen, lol.

I hope to head up to the Bruce a few times this summer. I like the 296, the digital t/g's are loud, analog not so but then again R/S seems to build better audio scanners than uniden. Its pricey and I heard horror stories about units breaking down but hopefully its just a fluke.

I live right at Bay & Bold. The van was yanked right out of the parking garage while I was working overnight at the station. NOT what I wanted to see at 10:30 the morning, I tell you.

I've got the 250D and I find its audio to be relatively good, except of course on P25 signals...you seem to have to find a very happy medium as far as volume is concerned or things become difficult to listen to. Unfortunately, I've already nicked up the case when I was out in the Dundas valley searching for some missing kid over the winter. Gotta tell ya, that belt clip is completely useless.

Watch out for the cops in Owen Sound...I've been dinged for 2 km/h over the limit...and they know who I am! Wait, maybe that's WHY they got me!

Jello: I'm at Bay and Hunter, were neighbours! Well at least for a month, were moving to Toronto.

My g-friends van was pinched in the outdoor lot and in the same spot my back winbdow was shattered.

Do you have a lake view or are u facing the mountain?

Well, actually, neither. I face Central school, which is OK except when the kids are on recess and I'm trying to sleep off a long night shift.

It's a decent view, though. When my friends come in on the GO train I can watch 'em come up from the station...they always wonder how I do that.

We sorta face the same way. One of the windows faces the school. I took my daughter 2 the park last nite.

Heck maybe some day, look out for me, I'll be the guy who desparately needs to do 2 things, shave his head and get a haircut, I got a bad beatle 'do goin on, or I wear my MTL canadiens hat, cardinals or Canpar hat.

Funny thing, I am moving and I find 2 people, one who lives within spitting distance who are into scanners, strange small world

Eric

P.S. When the trains come westbound theit lghts shine so bright in my apartment and its noisy, I can feel them under our place and we are on the 17th floor.

Really? My building must be either much more solid or floating on a delightful cushion of air 'cuz I never feel the trains going by. I HEAR them, but I don't feel the building shake.

Good luck with your move to TO. Been there, done that....spent a year in Don Mills working for cable and when I got the chance I got the hell out and back up north to Grey County. sigh

Canadiens hat, eh? You can get away with that in Hamilton, but Toronto may not be so tolerant!
