It would have to be something you did. The Scanner Range value is set either via the keypad or in the Profile.
I did not turn on Location Control for the Favorites List. Leaving that off tends to cast a wider net. With you just getting your feet wet, it is best to leave that off for now as it avoids the question of "Where did such and such go?"
