Thanks for all the information, you really have been super helpful! @ve2ihs bringing up shtf is funny, that's part of what I was after with ham radio in the first place...aside from being fun, of course! At the end of the day, just having a radio would be helpful at that point. Crazy to think that other services and options might not last long.
