They are sending a flight from Keesler today to check it out, but it looks as if we will be getting big time rain at the least out of this system.

BTW,.. Anyone that monitors Keesler AFB, if you get the callsign of the Hurrican Spotter's Aircraft, and the freq's its using, post it would ya??? Thanks in advance.

Aircraft call signs are "TEAL-nn" (where nn is a 2-digit number), "NOAA-42", "NOAA-43 and "NOAA-49"
Hurricane reconnaissance aircraft now primarily use milsat to relay recon data to the National Hurricane Center.

Didn't most of the primary communications from the Hurricane Hunters move to a satellite system a few years back? However, I read they still use HF as a backup, should the new system fail.

Yes but what I am interested in is the primary ops freqs that the aircraft operate on, if different from the KAFB freqs.
