look at my initial post.

LE is still on analog EDACS.

But it seems the P25 system which has a couple of talk groups, they are showing up Encrypted Voice muted via DSD+

And on my 996XT the system talkgroups do show up but they are muted ie no audio.

Right now the groups seem to be stuff like school busses etc on the P25 but when LE moves over I venture it will all be encrypted then.

Does anyone else here listen down south? to confirm what I am finding.

I did not say they are LE groups.

Makes sense. When even the Garbage truck talkgroups are encrypted in the new P25 system you know its gonna be a 100% scanner blackout come December 2014.

From what I heard the entire system moves to the new P25 this December.

my 996XT will be a nice doorstop once in Jan 2015

why surprising. Encryption is trivial with these new fancy radios, and with these online scanner feeds etc.. More incentive. The funny thing is the only thing in the clear is the EDACS test message "this is a test of the Harris P25 ..."

First of all all Local Government talkgroups are on the 800 mhz system.
And all are digital and monitorable.
I have confirmed Headquarters and Intercity in the clear.
The cut over for PD is supposed to be sometime in April.
But you know how those deadlines go.
The 700 mhz system is only for interop purposes.
They only did that system so the could get $$$$$.
The FD units that do use the system will be with the Local Government.
PD will be on the 800 mhz system.
It is not easy to monitor the current Local Government stuff, depending on your location.
If you are not in Dade County then forget it.
I have not run DSD Plus on the system but have run Pro96Com.
Pro96Com shows you all information including talkgroups and radio id's.

What talkgroup iDs did you hear in the clear, which site are you monitoring. Miami TCC?

This state for scanning public safety has taken a HUGE hit, and not for the better. Every other week it's one county or another. As much as I would like to upgrade to a newer model, like the Uniden's, I just can't see it.

Like it or not the plan was and is for LE to be fully encrypted. Thank you apps, broadcastify and any thing else that made easy to listen to LE and post it on the various news feeds.
