Has anyone ever successfully scanned the LA General Services PD? I programmed LA System 2 (EDACS) long ago, in both a Pro-96 and a Uniden 396, and I get LA Park Rangers as well as other municipal talk groups without any trouble. However, the GSPD is another matter. They often operate in my area, but even though there is TGID info for them in the database, I've never heard them even once and this seems improbable. Theories/suggestions are welcome.

GSD PD and Security are mostly found on System 3.

I have system 2 programmed on my 296D and system 3 on my 796D...and both programmed on my 396T.

In Decimal

609 Security and Buildings
621 Dispatch
622 Tac 2
623 Tac 3

629 is also widely used, but not sure how....

La Gspd

Got GSPD with Sys 3. However, the database doesn't show 621 as the dispatch TGID, and I haven't heard anything on that. Just wondering. Thanks again.

My sense is karldotcom might have been thinking of AFS TGID 04-121, rather than decimal 621. Because 04-121 (decimal 609) is definitely GSPD dispatch.

No, actually I was thinking when GSD was using a dispatch just for the Griffith Park Fire...that is the last time I did my main logging...and picked up the two tac groups 622 and 623, which they were using for evacuations. Maybe that is why I labeled it dispatch in my Unitrunker. Could have been just a command post deal for those weeks, with the regular city patrol stuff left on 609.

But you are correct, seems dead now.

What I've found-and I'm submitting this to the database-is that both the LA City Park Rangers and the GSPD can be scanned on LA City System 3. Not the case with System 2. So if you only want to program one, it should be System 3. Thanks again karldotcom for your feedback.

I heard a LA GSD PD unit on LAPD Northeast Division 11's frequency responding to a shooting and perimeter at Brunswick and Bemis on Saturday night....the RTO asked "Who is responding?"

and the reply was "General Services Police, 2 units enroute code 3 from Griffith Park" (which is blocks away)

Their White Explorers have 9 antennas on the roof....so some of them apparently have LAPD radios in them.

Somewhat related, I heard a LA Park Ranger unit on the city CLEMARS talkgroup talking to the CHP dispatch center about a disabled wrong way vehicle the night of the rains, I-5 @ Zoo Drive

FYI, Sepulveda Basin is closed due to flooding, and Zoo Dr @ Griffith Park Drive closed due to 3 mudslides that stretch 1 mile

So, Rangers and GSD have two ICs set up.

*Flooding* 6700 W. Forest Lawn Dr.; TG 563-D5; FS 76, Reports of possible mudslides and flooding in the vicinity of the Oakwood Apts. No evacuation order at this time. The Forest Lawn exit off the 134 Fwy is shut down to traffic. No add'l info at this time.; Ch:7,13 @8:32 PM -d'Lisa Davies###

I have a question about the trunked system A for LA county.

radioreference.com lists the trunked frequencies different in system A than the Southern California Freq. Directory. Which listing is correct.

Also, are any of the Ambulance Shared Services, Trunked, able to be picked up in Santa Clarita.

RR is a much better source of info.

I agree with RR being a better source of info.... if you think something is wrong, you post your question and get a bunch of corrected information thrown back at ya!

GSPD & Rangers

Here is more info that I aquired after a year of scanning with a BCD396T-GSPD is called the Office of Public Safety and they use white vehicles with that logo on them. These guys patrol the parks and libraries. They assist the Rangers on major incidents because they carry guns unlike the Rangers. The talkgroups are:OPS Dispatch 04-121(Decimal 609);OPS Tac 1 04-135(Decimal 621);OPS Tac 2 04-136(Decimal 622);OPS Tac 3 04-137(Decimal 623) Their dispatcher is known as "Control".By the way, the listing of L.A. City EDACS talkgroups is years out of date. The Rangers only use two talkgroups-Ranger 1(04-083) and Ranger 2(04-084).Their dispatcher is known as "1500".

have you figured out who the TG629 "Nora" units are? I think it stands for NORTH....meaning Valley, but am not sure.
