Hey guys- I have been looking at the Los Angeles City and County channelization on RR.com. I'm glad to see a major metro area is doing well without 800 trunked radio systems. You can't beat simple repeater and simplex operations for reliability and clarity.

Anyway- how many transmitter sites are there for their 400 system? Does the 400 system cover very well?

Thanks for any info. I will be coming to Burbank to visit a relative soon.

Not that simple

How many repeater sites? A lot.

That depends on the channel. Certain channels provide coverage to a specific area of the county. Others provide county-wide coverage.

Actually, it's not as simple as you think. They are simulcasting multiple transmit sites throughout the county to provide a seemless coverage area. It's all transparent to the end user. LAPD uses digital modulation as well.

Also, there are some Police Departments on LA City's, LA County's, and other 800MHz trunked systems.
