Los Angeles PD have radios unlike I've ever heard, very distinctive, when you hear them you know it's LAPD. Anyone know what they use? I'm speaking of their old analog radios, is anyone happy with the APCO 25 mod. they’re using now?

Hi,
They used the Saber III UHF 450-520 analog in the 506-507 MHz operating range with MODAT ID/Signalling.
Now, they use the Motorola Astro Saber III APCO-25 Digital with all channels in one zone. This includes channels for many surrounding cities at the touch of the keypad. They now use 484 MHz as well.
