Lost Half of Webster S.O. ???

Hey all,

I'm a bit lost here. Pro-95 no problems until now for the most part.

I've had Webster S. O. programed for some time. Primary freq is 155.4150 Secondary Freq is 156.0300.

Never had a problem getting both sides of all traffic. Now all of a sudden the scanner stops on the Primary and all I hear is static and a low hum for the most part.

When I lock out the primary, I hear the " base " side of traffic clear as a bell on the secondary but no traffic at all from the " mobile ".

Any clues anyone? This just started happening last week.

Sounds like encryption to me. The white noise sounds like DES or DVP encryption to me.

That thought crossed my mind as well, however, wouldn't both "sides" of the traffic be encrypted?

The "base" side comes in clear as a bell.

I do have a buddie on the S.O. to ask but I haven't seen him to do so.

Partial encryption! It is also used in Lincoln County. MS.... the dispatch is clear, the mobiles are encrypted...... This is used with Special Ops/Narcotics. All the rest of the comms are all clear.

had a meeting last nite and on the way home decided to check out webster s o. everything was ok. i found nothing wrong, listened to both sides of the conversation

After reading your response I fired up my Win95 and took a look at my data.

I must have hit the " mode " key by accident at some point while turning the light on (Pro- 95 ). This changed the mode on the primary freq to AM instead of FM. It stuck out like a sore thumb when I looked at the bank info.....

Feelin' kinda dumb....but Much relieved...... ROFL

Nothing has changed on the Webster S.O. frequency...I just went to my truck and was able to talk on that freq.Although they do have a Ch.that I can't find..They call it ch.15..I am not permitted to have that one.

Hmmm,

I took the info above and added it to the DB. It seems strange that we would have scanner enthusiasts in the parish who have yet to submit frequencies that the know to the DB.

Lou are the freq's that we add to the dB freq's that we know work?
Because all the ones listed in the FCC part all work here in Webster.

BTW 20+ years ago 155.415 Webster S.O almost all the times was scrambled..Never hear that any more.

First, sorry about the delay in getting back, but I was out of town all day yesterday.

Actually the frequencies you see in the DB are not from the FCC database (exactly). After submission by a listener, we (the admins) check the databaase to add what we can, like license info, location, etc. It is the policy of the site to only take entries from the listeners. The reason for this is two-fold:

1) Lots (too many) public service users are using frequencies illegally. They are known to the local listeners, but not listed in the FCC database anywhere. Conversly there are lots of frequencies licensed, but never used.

2) The local listener knows what frequency is used for what. This bit of information, as well as PL or DCS tones, channel information, etc. is what sets this site apart from the FCC database and other national data sources.

So... the bottom line is, if you (the local listener) don't submit, the data doesn't appear. 8)

I have added some new frequencies to the DB as of today.I will continue to add them when I have time.There is not a whole lot to listen to in Webster that are fire,police ems..ect.
1 Thing that I find strange is the city of Minden has 800 freq's.But are not yet in use.

About a month ago I was sitting in our 911 disp office in Minden and I heard one of the dispatchers say to another,go get the trunk line??? I did not question them on that as I had already asked many questions...Could that have been maybe a cell phone line or the state police 800 trunk?

Like I said in a previous post.Webster S.O has a private ch that they call ch.15 and I have yet to find that one.
