It's turned out to be one bummer of a day. I recall grabbing my SDS100 and putting it into the side pouch of my backpack. When I reached for it on the way home, it wasn't there. I've searched quite some time for it, even backtracking my steps on my commute, turning the house upside down, and creating more chaos.

I'm left with these two guesses:

1. Someone lifted it from my pouch while walking in the city
2. While jogging to the bus stop, it fell out and someone picked it up during the day.

Both are unlikely candidates, as the radio sits in the pouch with only the antenna protruding. It's a snug fit (on purpose).

I have to say it's very frustrating to have this happen, regardless of what brand you're into.

Did you ever register it on Uniden's Web site? If so, the serial number should be listed which will help if you or the local authorities find one for sale on ebay or similar sites.

Sorry for your loss though.....Bummer!

This is a heart breaker... do a police report, so it’s on file. If applicable, check home insurance policy you could be covered. The police report will be required.

Sorry for your loss ....

Yowch! Yeah I would be calling ALL the local and pertinent police depts. in your area and give them a full description. You never know, someone uninformed might turn it in thinking it's a lost police radio. That's why my boot up info screen includes my phone/address in case the same happened to me. There are still some kind and honest folks out there.

Thanks for the advice. I have let the local police departments know. Hopefully it fell into honest hands.

While it's too late to help in your specific case, this is why I set the opening screen of all my scanners to display my name, cell#, email, and 'Reward if returned"
While the odds of getting it back if lost or misplaced are slim, at least contact info is there if someone does intend to return to owner. Sorry for the loss. I know that hurts

That's why I wish Uniden would allow for a longer boot time for the opening.bmp . I don't thing think you can get rid of the opening.bmp unless you remove it from the microsd. This is where I would put all my vital info.

You can easily modify the standard boot screen with Sentinel software.

I'm with you on that. I wish there was some way to prolong the display of the opening text, and/or the opening image. But I have not seen anything along that line posted.

Check to see if the company of the credit card you used to purchase your SDS100 offers a purchase protection plan option and see if lost items are covered and for how long. this may be worth looking into.

This is a horrible after thought, but if you get it back and for anyone else out there ARRL offers equipment insurance which only has a $50 deductible. It's a much better deal and more specific coverage than regular homeowners or renters. Covers theft all the way to lightning damage. Hope it shows up though, I know what a nice scanner that is.

Wow.. Sorry,

In the boot screen I put "IF FOUND CALL" Number name and city.
Wanted some way for honest people to return it.
Did both 436HP and SDS100

I also changed my boot screen to read, "This scanner belongs to XXXX XXXXXXX and my phone number.

I also stick a small return address label inside the battery compartment.

I'm with the others that changed their start-up screens. I have my name, address and phone number appear on start-up on my 436, 536, 325p2, and Whistler 1095. Also, if you file a police report, and later you discover it at a pawn shop, the pawn shop management is obliged to return it to you. You have the serial number I hope.
