If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Has anyone tried this particular Unication bluetooth earpiece?

I have tried many different bluetooth earphones; my concerns are many of them won't pair with the G5, and the few that do are not loud enough; I have one that works but I have to turn the pager volume up all the way just to hear it.

I've had the same issues with a Motorola EX600.

The Bluetooth earpiece "connect" OK (with the proper Bluetooth adapter for the radio), but the audio leaves a LOT to be desired from the earpiece. It requires some back-and-forth of raising/lowering the volume on one or the other, with just minimal audio after all is said and done.

I even went with two wired earpieces (2.5mm plug going into an OTTO Mic with a 2.5mm socket), and the audio still wasn't what I thought I would be in one of them, and acceptable in the other. But the "good" one had earpiece issues, making it uncomfortable to wear.

Apparently, the size of the earpiece, and the amount of audio put out by the radio(s) is the problem.

I haven't tried Bluetooth or wired "ear muff"-type of headset yet, since they wouldn't be appropriate for my needs.

I use a Noxgear 39g with my G5 and G4. The beauty of the Noxgear is that I can plug my noise reduction ear muff type headset into the Noxgear when I‘m mowing the yard.
So this Noxgear has a headphone jack? Because if other people around me can hear it, it defeats the purpose of having Bluetooth earbuds.

My experience with this headset was disappointing. Extremely low sound thus I returned it within an hour .
My Noxgear , Apple pro as well my Bose Q35 works great .

I am on my second Noxgear as I accidentally left my original unit in a rent a car. I contacted the Company and suggested that they should explore the opportunity to embed a tracking mechanism within this small unit . It’s literally weights 39 gram and can be easily misplaced. Now I have attached an Apple AirTag to remedy the situation. It’s a great device with a small magnetic feature for daily run , walk or bike rides while keeping my G5 volume at the lowest level and save its battery.

Although I don’t use wired headsets , You can easily plug in your wired headset to the 39g. Friend of mine uses it with his SDS 100 which enhances its audio .Using this tiny speaker , I keep my G5 audio level at 30-40. Your experience might be different .

I'm late to the party and just recently (as of yesterday) used the Nox for a full shift.
Has anyone noticed that, after a long period of no audio, the Nox shuts itself off?
I use it with a G4, listening to a system with very little activity. After a few hours, I heard the Nox announce something (I could barely hear it due to the high noise environment I was in) I then just reached ov er, pressed the power button to turn it off and pressed again to ensure it was ready to listen again.

Yes, I dont remeber the exact ime but after a set amount of no activity it will time out and shut off to save battery. Maybe hit the play back button on the pager every 30 min or so to keep it on.

I've tried a number of BT headsets, ear buds, speakers, cars, etc. with my G5. The best option I've found so far is a pair of Jabra Elite 3 earbuds. Plenty of volume, decent quality sound, reliable connection, and won't break the bank. I also like that you can be fairly covert with this as your listening device and the G5 out of sight under some clothing.

I see lots of mentions in this forum about the Noxgear. I've tried that as well, but not impressed. Very poor sound quality and unreliable connection with my G5.

+1 for the Jabra Elite 3. This is the best pair I've used with my G4 to date. Previously I had some off-brand buds which required the radio's volume to be at 100 and I still experienced some difficulty hearing clearly in noisy environments. With the Jabra I typically set the volume to 45 and it's plenty loud.

I'm using the Wyze Buds Pro earbuds. They paired easily and seem to have plenty of audio output for me. With these, you can choose to reduce the surrounding noise if needed.

I just used my Noxgear 39g clipped to my collar while riding my motorcycle, I could hear it up to about 50 mph with my helmet on. Kinda fun going by calls when riding around. I forgot about it at a stoplight when a call came through, it made me jump, I looked around then in my mirrors for police then remembered DUH!. 🤣
