Sometime last year, Puyallup PD had this gem:

K9- "K92x"

Dispatch- "K92x?"

K9- "BARKBARKBARKBARKBARKBARKWHINEBARKBARK!"

Dispatch- "copy, at 2130"

K9- "Sorry"

etc.

This is what I'm hearing tonight......."K-9 24 BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK"
I don't know how the Dispatcher can hear the Officer with the dog's constant barking.

Not only the fact that the dispatcher can hear the officer, but also the migraine that the K9 officers must have after a full shift of BARK BARK BARK!

You would be amazed at how good you get a listening to their traffic with the barking, and normally its nice because you NEVER need to ask who the officer is... The officers are also usually pretty good at timing their traffic with the barks as well...

Most officers dogs don't bark all that much...Its actually conditioning that they hear the overhead lights come on, or the feel the car speed up that they start barking because they know there is some action coming up...
