Does Loudoun Co still use 46.38? I'm updating my radios and was wondering if I should keep this frequency. Thanks in advance

As far as I can tell, it is no longer used. Up until several years ago 46.38 was being used to rebroadcast the dispatch channel 6A from the trunked system. From what others had posted in this forum at the time, the low band transmitter was of degrading quality to the point it was turned off.

I have not heard traffic on 46.38 in at least a few years. I have checked the FCC database, and have not found any frequencies that are broadcasting calls on a stand alone channel.

Frequencies that are no longer used sometimes don't get removed from the DB. I think this is because it's easier to be certain about a new frequency or system coming online than to be certain that an old frequency or system is permanently gone. One might notice that a frequency isn't being used, but if you don't have inside information, you might think it could be a temporary outage or kept around as a backup. Without certainty, the retirement of the frequency doesn't get submitted to the database. And then there's the thought that having too much in the database is not as bad as missing info.

Should be, DB was updated saying its a multicast from the P25 system.
The update yesterday was only to correct the call sign; everything else including the description remains exactly as it has been for quite some time.

The main transmitter on 46.38 failed a couple years ago. Loudoun deprecated the low band system at that time saying they could no longer get replacement parts. None of the low band channels are in use any more, including the ones licensed to individual rescue squads.
