I've been out of the game for a while. I currently have a Radio Shack Pro-91 which, of course, does not work in Loudoun. Is the Pro-96 my best option? And while I decide whether or not to pony up $500, are there any sites on the Web that broadcast Loudoun Fire and/or Sheriff? I tried the two links I found, including the one listed on freqhopper's signature, and couldn't get either to work. Thanks.

if you can afford it, I would get a scanner. I have not used the Pro-96 myself. I have the Uniden 396T and like it a lot. I guess it's what you prefer. the reason I would get a scanner would be you'll find a lot more uses for it. one would be not having to rely on someone else for what you hear. you'll be able to see/find talk groups that may not be set on the person's scanner your listening to online.

not sure exactly what you're into, but there are some DoD systems you can listen to in Loudoun County.
