TG 3 was active last night with someone talking about a shooting around 1:30.
Just happened to be up, and an out of breath female officer? talked about someone having been shot twice in the head. (I have a question mark next to the officer because she had a lot more emotion in her voice that most of the conversations I hear with LMPD.I don't know who is on the frequency.)
I didn't pay much attention to this stuff before I got the scanner but it feels like you are right there on the scene.

I did not hear any of the traffic, so just a guess, but EMS, not that they get excited, but usually not in shape and then having to run and work on the shot person does that.

Those scenes tend to be a little hectic at time, especially when you have extra personnel and agencies interacting. I consider myself in pretty good shape and have found myself out of breath, especially after carrying patients down flights of stairs, or rapidly doing multiple critical treatments.

I don't think the new radios were standard issue this year - more for the command folks.

When you have incidents like that, whether you want it to or not, your body produces adrenalin. That gets things moving fast, breathing, heartbeat and even dialating the pupils in your eyes.

Just one of them things that happens. Unfortunately excited voices are very contagious.

Now that we're past Derby, does anyone have any info about the transition schedule? I keep MetroSafe up most of the time, but I hear very little traffic.

I keep hearing toward the end of summer. The game plan, as far as I know, is to have the public service folks go on it first, to see how well it works. Once that is done, they'll probably start with EMS because their existing coverage is lousy. Then I imagine it will be the police, then fire.

They are still working out the fleetmapping. Probably a pretty good challenge given the great number of entities involved, and how these entities are so used to getting what they want but may not given the whole "big picture".

And with the change, there appears to be a signal drop from 99% on all three
T0101, SY1A6, BEE00

in SW Jefferson Co. to levels of

T0101 80%
SY1A6 76%
BEE00 52%-64%

Is this a new CC, the ones listed in the RR database have no CC signal currently?

If I understand what is going on, correctly, here it is. For some time the MetroSafe system consisted of three sites. The nine new sites are on line, or are in the process of going on line. The CC for these new sites is the one mentioned above. The radio folks will be bringing the three original sites "into the fold" and using that new CC.

I also understand that the fleetmapping is getting closer to being done with regard to how many talkgroups there will be and who has what. Our MetroSafe friends have been very meticulous on this, and have been really good about working with us. About all that is left to be decided is what button does what function - the little knick-knack stuff - and the programming templates will be set.

Taking a rough guess at the total number of subscriber units - way over 2,000, programming will about as fun as a daily visit to the dentist. I don't envy the folks having to do all that. I imagine programming will take some time.

Hearing alot of testing, even hearing alot of testing 1234,4321 over the conventional LMPD channels, then hear the same person(I think) repeat on the MetroSafe system, or vice versa.

Actually the first set-up for each agencies radio is tough, the rest just "clone" like programming scanner after you get everything setup... though with Moto, each and every drop down needs top be checked carefully before programming, their software makes it harder than it should be.

There will be all kinds of radio testing going on over the next couple of weeks I imagine. MetroSafe will be moving into the new facility July 13 if I remember correctly. The radio folks thought it would be a good idea to be sure everything at the new facility is working the way it should. Thus you will likely hear radio traffic on most everything they have, even the stuff that is infrequently used.

The existing center will then be revamped some, and it will become the back-up dispatch center.

Today, it sounds like they are testing "links" telephone (or wireless) circuits from one center to the other, making sure the channels are labeled correctly.
