Jack--

Love County is a rural area and does not have a great deal of radio traffic. I can't monitor them from OKC, but when I get down there it seems most traffic is on the Sheriff's repeater 159.595MHz.

The only license in the FCC database for Marietta, City of, is 155.760MHz, which is a "catch-all" mutal aid frequency that might be used for PD, Fire or any other government operation.

That probably doesn't help much, but I would listen to the common mutual aid frequencies 155.490MHz for Police, 154.130MHz for Fire and 155.235 for Emergency Management.

Red River Electric Co-Op uses 154.965MHz for line maintenance, if that's of interest.

Thank-you for the info, the more I listen to them from the Denton TX area I hear both FD and PD on the same freq. Some units and handhelds would appear to be on repeater and some not based on what I am hearing.

Please note on 155.595 I can hear Love County SO since it shares the same frequency with both Garfield & Cherokee Counties.

I happened to get caught in the traffic jam Sunday afternoon on I-35 at Mile 9 caused by the 3 vehicle accident in the construction site, and everybody was using 155.595 MHz. In fact, there was so much traffic on this freq that it was just about to go into meltdown! They paged out all the various rural volunteer FD's to assist in directing traffic, and the EMS people at the scene had major problems with priority comms, what with all the "Stop that car, he ran right past me!" traffic.

I was stuck about 200 feet behind the accident for the better part of three hours. But on the bright side, I sold my video to Ch. 5!

K5MAR,I agree with you about the meltdown of radio traffic on 155.595
since conditions were right, when Cherokee County SO wasn't xmitting,
I heard the whole fiasco.
Why don't they get a different dispatch frequency for Love County SO
since their channel 1 was just CRUSHED with radio chatter?

Well, I'm told that the FCC is getting particular about what they license on VHF, requiring the new narrowband operations, etc. I suspect that would mean that any attempt by Love County to change freqs would result in a requirement to completely upgrade all their radios, an expensive proposition.

I know that Stillwater grabbed an additional VHF allocation before the cap was placed by the FCC, to give our FD an additional freq, just in case. As far as I know, the city hasn't even installed a transmitter at the site yet, but it wouldn't take any time to do. Been waiting to hear any activity on it, but nothing yet.

OK,Mark that explains everything about the procedures you just discussed
in your post about coordinating a VHF frequency.
Thanks for your answer as always!
