I have a TRX-1 and it was not picking up DMR.

The BCD325P2 does....and excellent reception

It was able to right after the box

Hmmm... I have several TRX radios and they pick up DMR (and NXDN) just fine....

The 325P2 is one of my favorites as well. I use it more than any other. I do wish battery life was better but with only 2 cells, I understand why it is not. Great reception on the little radio though.
