Hey neighbors,
I live in a fairly remote area of Rio Rancho.
I've noticed that the old 50+ longwire is getting alot of QRM, static etc.
I had planned on setting up another 100+ longwire about 40' at the highest point ( running almost perfectly north) and comming down slightly at about 30' AGL at the end point.
I plan on getting the VHF/UHF muli-dipole ( "Scantenna" ) up to about 40' AGL using a vent mounted mast on the roof. I think the VHF+ will work great, considering most I want to hear is pretty much line of sight, and my QTH elevation is great.
My question is: Now that the power lines and encroaching houses they are building in this area are creating more and more QRM, what do you recomend ( besides moving to another location:0 ) ? I'd kinda like to build a low impedance HF longwire fed by R8 or R6 end fed at the mast on the roof, then slope down to a PVC mast about 20' AGL at the distal end.
I'm kinda thinking that just a longer wire will improve, but I think the Sig/noise ratio will increase at this lenght.
Anyone have some good ideas on a end fed coax slighly sloping longwire?
I'm thinking that I'll have to use an antenna tuner to match impedance to the SAT 800 reciever. Any other ideas? Thanks for helping...........
