Lower all flags

Just heard on the scanner a call to all departments to lower all flags at 6pm, not sure what prompted that.

Detroit Fire has always broadcast that message every evening at 6pm. "All stations it is now 6pm lower your flags". A routine reminder, I'm not sure if they do a morning "raise your flags".

Flags were lowered for a military member that died, on April 3rd.

Not sure why. He was diagnosed with cancer in August and died now. I thought that was reserved for dying in action.
