Hi. Programming a radio for a friend on the shore. I'm up in New York these days, so a bit out of the loop. Have a couple of questions, I was hoping someone could provide some guidance.

1) Somerest County is mixed Edacs Pro Voice/analog. In order to monitor all talk groups, do I upgrade the radio (Bcd996P2) for Provoice, and program the system as such and specify analog talk groups accordingly?Program as analog and specify digital talkgroups? I recall Worcester being the same when I worked there, and only received analog. Using ARC XT software, if it helps.

2) I see the new Worcester P25 system is up, without talkgroups available. I'm planning on programming it with ID search for now. Any updates on the status of that?

Thank you in advance for the guidance. Usually pretty good with this, but this one stumped me.

1) I am not sure the 996p2 is provoice upgradable. I believe just the 436/536 is able to upgrade. So to that end you can call only program the analog stuff for Somerset and Worcester /OC EDACS

2) the system is up and running but not in use yet. Probably late this year or Jan 18.

Thank you for the information. So basically, to monitor all talk groups in the system, I should program it as pro voice and specify individual talk groups as analog or digital?

1. On the Somerset County EDACS system the Police are Pro Voice and everyone else is analog. So yes the Pro Voice is needed if you want to listen to PD.

2. Worcester County P25 P2 system is up and running. No departments have been moved to the new system yet. The sheriffs office is patched through to the system occasionally but not all of the time. I do not know what the timeline is for migration from the EDACS system to the P25 system.
