• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I just got a replacement front for my LPE-200. I had the 6 button front, but ordered the full keypad because the 6 button front was not available.

It still functions as a 6 button front and that doesn't bother me in the least, but I'd like to make it into a Systems model (full keypad).

I tried to change the type, but when I write to the radio, it stops and says that the model type does not match. Is there a way around this?

Hello, In the software there is a section where you have to change the radio type. Go to another part of the software called Radio Maint. Near the top tab click on LPE.
1) Read the tracking data file and chang your radio type to 96/99-HP System.
Reprogram updated tracking data file to your radio
2) Without re-setting your radio into program mode (leave radio as-is after programming
tracking file to radio), OPEN the scan personality file and change the radio type to
PRISM HP/LPE.
3) Go to Prism keypads option screen and select Prism keys (that is the system keypad)
If keypad information is missing, just press press the default keypad button on that
screen.
4) Reprogram the radio. Radio should act as a system model.

I have done this many times in the past but no longer own a LPE . If you have any questions drop me a line TDH19614U@YAHOO.COM

WCRadioGuy,

Does that part number include all items to do the switch over from Scan to System or is there another part number? THanks again.

That part number is correct. It includes the display & buttons. You may need a main gasket, but I did fine withthe original one. I also ordered new knobs for mine as the old ones were pretty worn.

I got the parts from Mutual Aid Supplies, Inc. They were the most reasonable on price.

Hope that helps.
