I have difficulty reading my radio. evrything is hooked up ok, the only thing I can think of is my windows XP computer is too fast and need to run the programmer on a slower computer.

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

What version of ProGrammer you running? Release 13 & under do not officially support XP. Release 14 or higher will support Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0 or higher. The PC speed should not be an issue, but how fast are you talking about?
I believe its version 11 from 2003. When I try to program it, error messages show like voltage error and it says something like cant make contact with radio, except everything I believe is hooked up ok. On the portabel RIB I have it has 4 lights the yellow flash works, the rad PC light woirks and the green power light works, but the rad radio light doesnt light---so I dont know what I am doing wrong. As far as speed of computer I have an up to date one with windows XP and a older slower 486 with windows 95. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Brad

Sounds like you are using a Price RIB. Using a Price cable as well?
This sounds familiar... I was trying to use a genuine LPE cable to prog an MRK, but it would not work until I used a genuine MRK cable. To make things worse, the LPE cable would program one of my MRK's - just not the older one......

Yes I have the price rib and a price cable that says it is for MRK/Prism/LPE. What is your suggestion is the problem in the RIB or is it the cable. Also you can use that RIB on either a home computer or a labtop correct?----thanks for your help.

What is your exact model number on the LPE?
I found with my MRK troubles that it was probably due to the vintage of the radio in question. The older radio required the use of an "MRK" cable while the later model MRK would program fine with the LPE cable. I only use real GE/Ericsson/M-ACom cables & the TQ3370 RIB box since I have access to them.

the model number is krd103103/a142. Yeah I have tried everything and still no luck. It shows error of could not intialize check rib and ports and I do and eveything is ok, then it says make sure radio is in program mode. Never programmed one before is there a universal way to put these radios in the program mode.
Thanks that did it I was able to get the programmer to work. Now if I could only figure the program out. Used to Motorola never did an edacas radio before. Everything looks programmed right but no audio is heard. Ill have to get someone on the system to look at it.
