The command and service net traffic for this incident is now being heard on the 408.9375MHz link off of Santa Ynez Peak. This may include the fire camp service net on 171.5000MHz. However, the the 164.9125MHz and 164.825MHz inputs are both being repeated on the 406.3250MHz link.

Right now hearing Dolan Air Attack talking to Los Padres dispatch and being repeated on 408.9375MHz regarding air tanker assignments. Air Attack is referring to "service net." Other traffic from ground units is referring to "command."

This is an old practice of repurposing link repeaters based on needs of large incidents.

The ground crews are referring to it as "Command" because that is what the comm plan says for the incident. Resources from other federal locations and state and local resources don't really know, or need to, what frequencies are being used for the Command Net on this fire. Air Attack is someone very familiar with the LPF's radio system, maybe its actually Air Attack 07, the LP's permanently stationed ATGS. I don't think the aircraft are cloned with the incident comm plan so are probably looking at what their radio reads. Opps, not having the incident programmed cloned into their radio might not be the case, otherwise how would they communicate on the command net, it sometimes includes frequencies from the unused federal agency in the area pool, that may not ever be used again. Maybe valarian, the resident RR expert on current aviation matters can answer.
