• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can anyone provide the web address or information on how to obtain an LTR FCC Database and FCC Channel Database.

I am trying to program a TK-480 and it doesn't ask for Fx it asks for FCC Channel.

Thanks,

Charles

go to FCC rules 90.613, actually there are several rules together in 610 range, and you will find the 800 frequency tables that give the channel number and frequency. Here is a short example:
1.......... 851.0125

2.......... .0375

3.......... .0500

4.......... .0625

5.......... .0750

the FCC has no idea what manufactuer is using the frequency, that is they are not seperated for LTR or macom.

The numbering will be all messed up when rebanding occurs as frequencies are being shifted around. A radio that requires programing by channel number instead of frequency may well be useless after rebanding unless it can be modified by the manufactuer.

The FCC does not differentiate among trunking system types. All channels are the same no matter what the system. Why manufacturers insist on using the FCC channel lineup is a mystery (considering the changes in the wind) but you should find the FCC line up here (hopefully that is what Kenwood had in mind):

Your master site
I had to use the 2004 channel plan with the LTR Kenwood I have (TK-940). So double check you've got the right one.

I don't program radios, but if you are going to program a trunk system into a commercial radio, I've read on previous posts that there is a system key that you need. I don't know what it is, but only the company and the system admin have it. I can be wrong, just trying to help.

Thank you for the responses

I am now looking for the KPG-35D software for a Tk-480.

Also what do you mean when you say after rebanning it will be useless? We (LE local community) just rebanned becuase of Nextel and that is what we are still using. Is there future rebanning in the works?

The FCC channel numbers are different in the new rebanded chunk of spectrum.
