Plain LTR does not have a CC. MultiNet and PassPort have CCs that sound like dead carriers. Plain and PassPort send periodic blips on all system channels. Some systems have dual-mode repeaters that are both Plain and PassPort.

There can be single-channel LTR systems. The effect is like using LTR in place of CTCSS or DCS.

None of the radios that provide control channel data output provide LTR messages unless you've programmed the LTR system into the radio - which makes discovering new LTR systems a pain.

Eric's Handy "LTRLogger" will work with your 396XT to help you map
out LTR systems. Just follow the directions below:

LTRLogger 1.0.0.0
By Eric C. Carlson

This is a simple Windows commandline application that outputs LTR data from
a Uniden BCD396XT scanner in a readily human-usable format. It is primarily
intended to facilitate easy identification of the logical channel numbers
used in a given LTR system.

There is no warranty. Use at your own risk.

Requirements:
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
Uniden BCD396XT scanner with control channel output enabled
(Uniden BCD996XT should also work but is untested by the author)

Instructions:
Set your COM port and baud rate in the LTRLogger.exe.config XML file.
To exit the running program, press enter.

I have used it with both a 396XT & 996XT to map out a few systems here.
Happy Monitoring
