Luke is on this trunked system. I have no idea if the information for that area is current and correct.

I live near Sheppard AFB which is on the same system and the SF talkgroups here are encrypted.
I wouldn't be surprised if the SF talkgroups throughout that system are all encrypted. At Wright-Patt in Ohio, even the CFR talkgroups are encrypted.

At Sheppard it looks to me like all radios and consoles have user selectable encryption on all talkgroups. Fire dispatch went encrypted a couple years ago except for their alert tones. Some of the fire radios are encrypted and some aren't. Same with most other users and talkgroups. Some units like SF probably have a procedure to make sure all radios are set to Ø when the radio or vehicle is issued at the start of the shift.

You guys are lucky. Our local AFB has full-time encrytion on every talkgroup. In 3 years I've never seen (pro96com) or heard clear traffic on anything.

Last time I looked at it, SF at Luke are encrypted. Anytime the base alert status went up, the big E was turned on and with the geopolitical situation currently, I believe it has stayed on.

Good Morning,
Probably not much use yo you in the US, but here in the UK the USAF Bases I've worked at and visited SFS are all encrypted along with all of the First Respnders using the P25 radio system and all found from 402 -425 mhz.
Radios do have the non-encrypted/encrypted toggle switch but I'm led to believe the encryption is dealt with at Base Station level and not by the user and his/her handheld or mobile in-car set.
Hope that helps a little??!!!!

It can also be set up when the radios are programmed. Certain talkgroups can be "strapped" encrypted, so when switched to that talkgroup it doesn't matter what position the switch on the radio is set to, all traffic is encrypted.
