Hello all,

Looking for a programming strategy for my new handheld that will enable it to copy LWIN as I travel around the state.
I pulled 84 unique control channels from the DB, and dumped them into one "site" in my scanner. It seems to work as it scans for traffic on all the control channels that are in range. I just don't know if this is efficient.

Q: is there a best-way to scan all of LWIN during travel without entering all the sites separately?

I can see a HH losing a CC and acquiring a new one ever few minutes while driving.

Thanks

ps here are all the red and blue CCs that I am scanning.

i did that with the county next to me, with my 396T, but it only had 6 towers.
it does work and that radio does not have the site thing like the 396XT.
i was going to set up the state of Florida.
but i figured out that if i traveled that much i would get an HP radio with the full database.
and the computer updates it so you would not have to check it every week.
and then the radio does the work and i would have the talkgroup name on the screen.
and with GPS the changeover just takes place automatically.

Thank you I’m loving my new scanner. Some of the codes I remember from living in St Bernard parish but I’m old and can’t remember some of the codes. Any help will be appreciated. It looks like some of the codes are the same. 67A is an auto burglary and 20 is an accident.

Most of the 10 codes are the same ones in use by LSP, that much I do remember. When I first heard them, they threw me because of the big difference from main APCO 10 Codes, and the MS variations of those. Like in MS, 10-50 (J1, J2, J3, J4) is a MVA, and its Negative in LA.

Here is a big chunk of the LSP stuff which is close to what is in use where "Clear Speech" has not become the norm yet.

Ugggghhhh. It did not separate properly in the cut and paste. But you should be able to seperate it out to make sense. Also those codes as far as I know are not used by LSP anymore, but are still used by some places in LA that just can't seem to get the message that NIMS is the way to go thus use Clear Speech for interop. Just like a LOT of places nationwide.

Like I said, this is an OLD list. LSP is not supposed to be using ANY 10-Codes, or ANY codes at all any more. They switched to Clear Speech a few years ago. That much I do know. They even did write ups in several papers, and a few TV news stories were done when they did it. Tangi and Concordia, and most of the Parishes I used to listen to all used those 10-Codes back then. Also if your going to just say "Those are wrong", you could actually help the OP out and put what is in use for him.

The Clear Speech deal was used by a few departments that didn't last long. I mostly listen to LSP and the SO's around the Baton Rouge area. Some of those 10 codes are still used and none of those LSP signal codes are that. Example at LSP a crash is a signal 20 and it could be just a 20 or a 20I for injury or 20F for a fatality. Or just a vehicle in the ditch could be a signal 18 and not a crash. A DWI is a 98.
