M36 Status Bits refers to the status bits on the older Motorola trunked radio systems.
EDACS Dig means that it will stop on ProVoice talkgroups, but the scanner itself does not handle decoding of these on the scanner. The purpose of this setting is to use the IF Output through the headphone jack to be used with decoding software on a computer.
Alright, thanks. Does that mean that Project 25, type 1 and Type 2 does not have Status Bits? If each type of Project 25 does not have them and the original 3.6K Moto systems did, why the change?
Because the P25 infrastructure doesn't need them anymore? I would surmise that the features that they provided to the systems are more finely integrated now.
P25 has status bits (Service Options). The difference is that scanners should've always ignored status bits. That would've given us the true Motorola talkgroups of 1, 2, 3... instead of 16, 32, 48, ...
