To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So I have a quick question. If I were to get a M7300 dash mount radio, could I run this with a second remote control head just by selecting the right option in RPM and connecting the can cable to the back of the brick? Or would I have to convert the brick to remote mount?

Yes, we have tested this and it works fine. You can have a dash CH721 either System or Scan and have a second remote CH721 system or scan. It also works on an HHCH.

As a side, this also works on the unity mobile as long as its not a CH100

Update: So I recently acquired a M7300 (vhf) dash mount, the brick and head have current firmware. I setup RPM/Network Options as dual control and setup a second CH721, with current firmware. The setup works and passes audio, however one CH721 always displays "*DUAL*", and doesn't display the current channel name or other info. If you press PTT on one CH721, the other CH721 automatically displays "*DUAL*".

In RPM under Network Options/Dual control setup, I set "switching mode" to both slave and independent, and it does the same thing in both modes, as if changing this setting does nothing. Does one CH721 always displays "Dual", because one of the 721's is configured as a Dash Mount?
