• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm trying to inference a M7300 to a Motorola L3276 tone remote adapter.

I'll be using the DB25 off the accessory cable. I've found some info, but it's conflicting. I know I'll have to get PTT programmed (I think pin 21).

Anyone do this before? I'd like to get RX out without getting messed with by the volume knob but I'm not sure that's possible with these radios.

I should be ok with the remote adapter side. I'm just looking for the DB25 connections on the M7300.

Is there a reason you are trying to us a TTA instead of E&M? If so is there a reason for not using a CS7000 with tone board?

Because that's what's on hand. I have an existing m7300 mounted to a power supply. Just trying to make it more useful by marking it more accessible via existing multi base capable tone remote consoles. I can also hide the 'guts' in a secure spot. Less fingers to mess it up.

I don't have the luxury of buying a new control station radio at this time.

Since a CS7000 has the functionality you want, it does stand to reason that you can do what you want to do with an M7300. I suggest that you contact the Harris TAC and request documentation on the back panel accessory ports. This should not be too difficult to obtain.

I guess me real question is what functions you are trying to be able to do. Do you need to be able to perform System/Group changes or are you just looking to PTT via tone? Interfacing for E&M is very easy to either the radios DB44 or the DB25 on the option cable's DB25. In reality you can apply this to using an external TRA as well but you will still only get PTT via tone. If you need other tone functions you will need to reverse engineer the CS7000 tone board.

As an aside, I have many M7300 and M7100 stations as control stations for RF Links into our trunked system and I use E&M rather than tone as I can pull direct COR using E&M while tone interface relies on VOX.

DisasterGuy, any chance you could PM me (or even put here) information on system/group changing via E&M? I'm not real familiar with E&M but I am trying to work on a simple interface to be able to remotely change talkgroups, etc, as well as get information displayed on the LCD of the radio.

I am specifically using M7100's right now.

THANK YOU!
