One note, it does not include the land mobile buisness in Lynchburg Va., Land mobile radio stays with Tyco/ MaCom

My parent Co. bought other MaCom divisions mainly to get their hands on the Military Avionics line and the microwave line and land mobile radio was not included.

We did purchase the transistor division but from what I heard plans are to divest this division as it's not in our Parent Co's business interest.

Future or MA-COM Pro-Voice systems affected ?

This news makes me wonder is the sale of MA-COM will effect Pro-Voice systems ?
Example, would San Antonio Public Safety radio someday dump Pro-Voice due to lack of support and migrate over to APCO-25 TRS as a result of MA-COM's woes ? Dreaming

No this has nothing to do with Ma/Com land mobile division in Lynchburgh which has control of EDACS, Provoice etc..

All that we bought, Cobham PLC is my parent Co., was the Macom Microwave/ military division and the RF power transistor division.

Again this has nothing to do with Ma/Com land mobile or ProVoice/EDACS etc. they stay with Tyco Electronics.

Provoice, EDACS etc will stay under it's original ownership, Tyco, Ma/Com electronics.

They could do that, and at $8/radio shipped, they would most likely use Motorola's ADP encryption system-wide.

OK, MMIC ... I can't hear the "No-Voice" system the way it is anyway .... sooooo
how would I be any worse off ? I suppose the PC data-tapped E-Trunker w/ESK
folks here in San Antonio would be mighty bumbed out ... Or the Folks like Lindsay
with his GRE PSR-500 that I understood him to say that DOES at least follow the
esk encrypted trunking channel and at least let him listen to the analog only
talk groups on our mixed Analog and Digital EDACS Pro-Voice TRS system.

ps ~ Linsday or Anyone ... please feel free to jump in and confirm this little miracle )

btw ~ So let's suppose San Antonio does dump Pro-Voice and go to a new system
of say Motorola's APCO-25 Smartzone system with ADP on high sensitive TG's
Do you suppose that there would be still lots of Analog TG's like we have now
that would be listenable ? Does ADP scramble the Control Channel like esk ?

btw#2 ~ On that deal of $8 per radio figure ... that they would certainly opt for ADP ?
because it's just to cheap extra not to opt for the encryption option right ?
Finally, didn't Laredo, Texas ( Webb County ) really piss off all the media
and scanner hobbiest and implement a new APCO-25 encrypted TRS along
with I believe the Border Patrol and the Homeland Security Depts ? Hmm ?
