MA State Police on 996XT

First time trying to program this scanner. It was installed by MHQ in our new K9 Tahoe. They have no idea how to program. The officer only wants MA state police on it. I downloaded FreeScan but how do I get the info to put into scanner? Is it different for different troops? All digital, trunked? Thanks in advanced

What part of the state are you operating in? That would help in determining what needs to be programmed. There is currently not a lot of digital use on the MSP system, but it is trunked for the most part.

For the Lowell area you will want to program in Site 5 on the analog SmartZone system and enter at Troop A and statewide talkgroups.

Once you have all of the site and talkgroup information programed in you will need to upload it to the scanner with the scanner up button. There is a youtube video on how to program in FreeScan if you have any confusion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QmG4s0bnbE

Lowell area

You'll find everything you need here, It's all analog. Troop A covers Lowell, so you'll want A Patrol 1. A Patrol 3 is car to car, so you'll want that too.

They also use low band sometimes. Mostly car to car, but sometimes the barracks does call cruisers on low band. 42.3400 with a PL of 141.3.
