• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a number of MAHG-8HHXX radios 136 to 174 MHz 110 watt. For all the channels I have stuffed into these, I am not even close to exhausting systems,
Channel sets, or channels. It looks like 1000 channels per set, way over 100 system sets.
Anyone have a clue as to the total number of channels? (one would think I would know this.)
What is in these now is all 10 NOAA broadcast channels, All of the active NOAA sattelite channels, All 88 ITU Marine channels.
Nearly all of the 2 meter symplex channels, and 2 meter repeater channels for over 20 counties.

The limit is 255 systems and I believe 1000 channels in total for the 7100 platform.

Scanning will take like 5 minutes to go through that many channels, if you try to put that many all in one system, and it starts to get buggy once you start to get to the total channel limit.

I try to limit my scan members to 100 or so. There used to be a bug that if you went over 128ish, the radio wouldnt actually be scanning at all.
I have no issues scanning all 97 AAR channels in mine.

That was only for P25T talkgroups. The 1000 unique channel identifer limit, mentioned earlier, is in reference to conventional and P25C channels.

Yea, conventional channels. I have broken up my scan groups mainly for faster scanning.
About 30 of them from 25 systems.
I need to look at my .per to see just how many channels I have but certainly upward of 500.
I have much the same channeling in my XG-100M, but add low VHF and UHF, not counting NAS State systems.

Hmm, 280 channels, not as many as I thought. That means I can add San Bernardino, LA, and San Diego countys.

That's kinda misleading. There have been forum posts about this in the past.
