It's a gray area. I myself on occasion thought others were providing too much information, and made mention of it. The usual response is that they think I'm overreacting.

I didn't feel any of the info in my post would put anyone at risk however.

I think jpm was implying that if we keep posting what we hear, they will begin using encryption to prevent us from hearing them, so we can't post the info.

You might be right, but I doupt that they are going to invest the money that is required to get encryption just because someone on here posted something they heard..........a lot of police departments could care less about the site or any other scanning site for that matter.....I do admit that you have to be careful what you do post, but this is what scanning is all about, they cant police everything!

I know they're not your favorite cops, and you have friends in MSP. I on the other hand don't have anything against them. They never did anything to me...not even a ticket! They actually helped me out on a few occasions too.

Like them, or not, they seem to catch the bad guys very quickly in most situations!

I have a few friends at MCSO and I razz them all the time. One is a retired trooper and boy he gets heck from me when I see him.

They catch their perps fast because they have like 400 cars on the road all the time lol..

And the Michigan State Troopers aren't all angels! You need to remember that the two two toopers that spoke out against the sheriff broke two MSP regulations.

Yeah excuse them for doing the right thing, its all about the money. The more calls a department takes the more funding they get. Also Michigan Sheriffs are notorious for using strong arm illegal tactics against small towns, and townships to either pay for 24.7 coverage or they will either not get protection or they will be put on a waiting list. Its wonrg, illegal and if they were turned into MCOLES they would be investigated for that. You cant force citizens that pay taxes to pay extra monies only for gaurenteed protection.

Hackel did just that in Bruce Twp, then MSP said we will open a subpost there and boom no more Sheriff. Lenox just got smart and booted their butts out and said you cant strong arm us anymore.

I not going to debate all of the statements you are saying. But if you feel as strong about these matters as your posts sounds. You need to take some postive action or it going to eat you up!

One way would be to find a good honest canidate foir sheriff and then do everything you can to help that person get elected.

Remember two wrongs don't make a right. And these Troopers actions were wrong because they knew they were breaking State Police Regulations when they did it. They just thought they were above the law. And they are now paying for their actions.

They broke policy by going speaking out in uniform that was it. Had they gone in plain clothes MSP couldn't have done a thing to them because at that point no policy would have been broken.

So I ask again "what law did they break?" If they broke no law then your comment is baseless.

Okay, they broke regulations and department policy.

1. speaking in Uniform
2. speaking with out premission and/or knowlege of their Commandor,
3. They did this while on duty.


I don't know why you are getting so nick picky about my post, you have made alot of a comments about the Sheriff, but what laws did He break? You made alot more anti Sherriff comments. I am not anti state police, but these troopers did wrong and just because you think the sheriff did wrong is no reason to let the troopers off the hook.

Sheriffs already double dip for coverage. Your state tax dollars pays for MSP, a Sheriff patrol creates a new tax that you have to pay for coverage. Now dont get me wrong it's not the deputies I hate as I have many friends that are deputies here but its the brass of their departments and the way the Sheriff's themself (elected person) deal with the public.

The only Sheriff's I think are worth their weight in anything is Evans in Wayne County and Konkqlin (sp) in Lapeer County. The rest can sit on a fence..

What I said about the State Troopers, were indeed, rules, regulation or Policy that they broke.

But what rules or regulation did the Sheriff break? It is legal for them to make deals with the township for extra Patrols, If I were You, I be at my township meeting, expressing my opinion to the Township board about the deal they made with the Sheriff. It's your township board who is wasting your tax money by contracting with the sheriff.
