Does anyone know if the Macomb Sheriff has an amphib boat at this time.
I was getting a haircut today on South River and Bridgeview and saw what looked like one with Macomb Co. markings foloowed by one with no markings heading toward the boat house.brianw83 said:Cant recall if they do or not but i think i remember seein one near the boat house off s. River. The Coast guard does have an enclosed air rescue boat and Harsens Island Fire rescue has a standard air boat. Clay twp / Fair haven had one but they lost it in a rescue a couple years back.
MCS basic inventory: Acouple patrol boats (center console and semi-enclosed, jet ski's, jet boat, inflatables (special ice rescue), aluminum john boats.
Why do ya ask?
It had a bunch of wheels on it - they were driving down the road- they were coming south on Bridgeview then east on South River - maybe from SANG. (looked like an APC with wheels). The Macomb Co. Sheriff has quite a few boats - I heard one instance where MSP was going to escort MASH with their shallow draft boat to the Coast Guard Headquaters in Detroit - but the sheriff's SUV went past the MSP car at Moross to fast for MSP to catch up.brianw83 said:Hover craft or air boat? Keep in mind the Coast guard Airboat looks almost like a massive hover craft, only it doesnt have the kevlar skirt around the sides [they thought it was too girlyjust kiddin ]
The two I saw one had Macomb markings on it and the other had no markings. It looked like they were coming from SANG.kc8bdk said:I saw them too... they both looked like Macomb County SD vehicles
If you get over by the Macomb County jail, on the north side of the jail, the SWAT team has a couple wheeled and tracked vehicles there for operations.
They looked like the 6X6X6 The end of South River Rd is also the Boat House. I knew they wern't at the Jail or Boat House. I only got a quick look as they were going by. Where are they in New Haven?kc8bdk said:here is a possibility.

They have tested vehicles at the Harley Ensign boat launch at the end of South River Road. They are in New Haven.... not too far...
If you go to the picture pages, they have pics there of the 4x4 and the 8x8x8 swimming. I was at work that day and it looked like an old dreadnaught that could come out of the water.
And Detroit PD wants one of these.. HAHAHAHAHA.. can you say "Hello, Mutual Aid"
I don't think I would want to take it for a ride in open water on a summer weekend!!!kc8bdk said:The Mrs. wants a test drive!!
Yeah, I work for the DNR at the boat launch during the summer, and at the fisheries office during the winter. So I spend a lot of time on South River.
