MACON, Ga. -- Bibb County law enforcement officers evicting people from their homes can’t call Macon police for backup. Bibb deputies have been avoiding using a better kind of radio because they couldn’t record the transmissions until recently. And the enormous radio system behind every emergency agency in Bibb County is dying, with a replacement cost of about $12 million.

It's the same old thing, our 10 year old radio system is deteriorating and we never planned for this so now it is an emergency. So, the Sheriff can't talk to the City because they put up an APCO25 system. All they need is a mutual aid radio on one of the tg's. Then they want to put up a VHF backup system? They don't even have a clue on how to cry to the taxpayers properly. I guess their dispatcher doesn't have the phone number to the City? I guess they never put in a bank of mutual aid talkgroups? It's taxpayer dollars in a tight enconomy not we need the latest and greatest if that is what we want but we are not even sure about that. 800 and/or VHF?????
