I was at a train crossing (Waiting for trains and watching YouTube on my cell phone) and someone reported me to the police as they thought I was suspicious. But I later realized that the dispatch is in the clear as I had my SDS100 with me, the officer was telling the dispatch my info and there was nothing through the SDS100.

Later realized that the dispatch was partially encrypted. (Mobiles/Portables enc, dispatch clear)

If you were wondering what happened afterwards, well, the officer just told me to carry on with my day as I please so all was well after that.

I remember when sheriff was operating on analog. Only posting this here to see if anyone else has noticed.

Correction 151.2125.

Interesting, just yesterday mobiles were able to be heard (at least some of them)
Haven't really heard much traffic today, so can't say for sure. There really isn't a lot of traffic already, a lot of it is over the MDTs, it seems.

Still hearing mobiles on the frequency. It's possible that the radio that the deputy was using, transmitting on 153.8, was overpowering the reception of 151.2125 repeater, which is why you did not hear him.

Interesting, gonna have to test that out the next time I'm up there. Without getting the police called on me of course :ROFLMAO:

Has something changed with the sheriff's department frequency? I'm picking up transmissions on the Rural Law: Dispatch "Local Government" channel, but I'm not getting anything on the sheriff dispatch. I'm fully updated per the RR database. Thanks!

That new license is probably for the jail. They are using p25, they have to for the grant they got. I heard them the other day just fine, but hadn't heard much today.

OK, while I didn't hear anything all day, and I wasn't fully focused on listening either, this evening I've heard both dispatch and all the units talking back, as far as I can tell.

Maybe they've given then the option to encrypt when it's needed (and I have NO PROBLEM with that, as long as we don't go 100%).

There could also be a second talkgroup that's fully encrypted. The main dispatch is on talkgroup 1.

Thanks to a pickup truck pulling anhydrous tanks running into a train this morning, I'm picking up plenty of traffic on talkgroup 1.
