They definitely have the radios. They are being stored at AFD’s station 3 on Columbus Ave. I don’t know whether or not they have been programmed yet. I would think that the system would need to be operational before that could be done. My sources at AFD and APD say that they have been told it will likely be sometime after the first of the year before anything will be up and running.

Cool I figured they would already have the radios. The same person that said they were programmed said P25 was just for scanners. Soooo lol

As it stands, there would not be programming done yet, as they don't even have an frequency assignment from the FCC for this system yet. Once the freqs are assigned, they can put codeplugs into the system rather simply. And if they are actually going to use the IDPS TRS as the core like HamCo is doing, then they could simply program both the Sys 1, 2, or even 3 as well as the new Sys 4 freqs, and then use one of the currently running systems to do set up if they were in an huge rush. but since they are not, the initial set up will be done as soon as they have an frequency assignment, and at least one site operational. If they had freqs etc already then they could have used the demo setup in IL at Motorola to program the gear with the codeplugs.

It sounds like it will be a IDPS system. I heard that they have already swapped a few radios with Hamilton Co. Apparently the Madison Co. order included a few more handheld radios that Hamilton Co. needed, so they traded them for mobile units that can be used in various Madison county fire apparatus.

I also heard just today that the Madison Co. system more than likely will not be in full operation until late spring of 2016. They still have towers to build. I think they are looking to either expand the current dispatch center or move it to a new location.

They will be using the same frequencies that their current LTR 800mhz is using and probably updated emission designator closer to switchover or as switchover is occuring with a waiver. I would say they already got a template made and the shipped equipment programmed since its a new site addon to the IDPS core. Moto usually does all that prior to shipping the equipment on new systems.

They will have a lot more freqs added to the current listing. There will be closer 20 by the time its all done (HamCo is even adding more freqs to the Sys 3 simulcast). After all, they are not just going to be SO , corrections and a bit of EMA once they switch, pretty much everyone will be on it. MCEMA, APD, AFD, MCSO, MCFD's, EMS, the DPW's, as well as every town PD etc.... And yes, there will be encryption, but again, most of the primary dispatches should all be in the clear. It will be P25 Phase I just like Marion and Hamilton Counties, until 2020ish when pretty much everyone is looking to get on the Phase II bandwagon.

Yes there are several sites that need built yet, as well as the usual FCC APCO freq coordinations etc... Will be interesting to watch this since I have never seen an LTR to P25 swap over. Should be similar to the EDACS to P25 switch Hamilton did.

As soon as I get some free time I will get some info together for this system and post it here. I do know it is a ways off yet before even testing can be done.

Some info the new system is a ways off yet there will be 3 new towers added to what is up now and 5 new buildings to support all the new equipment. Money and contracts are being worked out ALL bids should have been in back in July for work to begin. APCO and FCC Approvals are still being worked out. I believe that Pyramid Architecture and Engineering is heading up a big part of the project as well as Motorola. It is also to my understanding there is a lease agreement between Madison County and South Madison County School Corporation for tower and land for the new P25 system as well.
Between Safe T and the new Madison County System there is a lot going on in the county right now.
When I get more info I will post it

The system will go live when the new dispatch center is built. This saves the county the cost of a shelter. All the agencies have agreed on templates and the complete talk group set up has been finalized that is probably what your source meant by programming. All of the templates for different classes of users are finished, and all of the TGs have been named. Yes I have the templates. No I won't send them to anyone.

"Yes, I have the templates and no I won't send them to anyone" Way to support the hobby.

Yes, most of the time those that get original templates are under agreements, and when I get them, I never disclose who or where I get them from. All I do is state that I have access to em, and what they show basic info. So far, the only templates I have access to are SAFE-T P25, Certain IDPS ones, and a couple from other states. The only template I have that I will never post info from is due to both an signed non disclosure form valid until 2020, and that it is an higher level than an state government. And that's all I am actually allowed to say for that.

This forum provides a safe level of anonymity. Most people here employ user names that are not going to disclose their identity. With that said, this entire site is designed for the purpose of sharing data that allows the scanner enthusiast to program their radios. I seriously doubt that a criminal element exists. We are people who simply enjoy the hobby of listening in on what is happening in our communities.

I’m sure when we were kids on the playground we heard the chants, “I know something you don’t know!” It is one thing to say, “This is what I know…” It’s an entirely different thing to say, “I’m NOT telling you.” The latter seems a bit antagonizing and it’s certainly frustrating.

Just share what you feel comfortable sharing and leave it at that.

I apologize. My point wasn't to say I know something you don't know, rather, to point out that work has been done on the system, and once the hardware is in place it will be a rapid transition.
I have contributed to this site in the past, and if I am able to I will in the future.

How will they communicate with each other if the system is not yet online?
From Anderson Bulletin:
ANDERSON – By October, Madison County will begin the distribution of walkie-talkies to local police agencies as part of the county’s new public safety communications system.
Terry Burnworth, a consultant with Pyramid Architects, said 280 walkie-talkie units will be distributed by the end of September and officers with the various county police departments will be able to communicate with each other as part of the state communications network.
Burnworth said the entire $8.1 million system will be operational in 2016.

In the last 4 hours there have been 40 or more sffs by one or more Madison Co radios to Madison Co TGs and other county or state TGs. There has been no calls logged. Chesterfield police & fire will talk to Delaware police or fire ref Daleville traffic. The Madison co dispatchers are most always affed to Madison co tgs Law & Fire. (no talk just joins) So, yes Madison co has SAFE-T radios but may not work on the new systems.
