The new radios will work on SAFE-T, both the current Legacy System, and the P25 upgrade once its done. When need arises for them to use the SAFE-T they now can with no issues as compared to the past. The mobiles are still the same and County uses the same Conventional, and LTR as always until the change over to the IDPS once System 4 is built and online. The HT's are set up for SAFE-T, and will have the IDPS once that is ready. On power up, the HT's will affiliate with the nearest SAFE-T site to them. Only when PTT is pressed will you see any traffic. It is nice that they can now use the system if needed without hassles. Anderson included. I wouldn't expect a lot of traffic on SAFE-T from them unless they need mutual aid or there are issues with the LTR and Conventional systems. But it would be worth having the SWMA's, Regional MA's, and MadCo TG's in your scan pattern from now on if you haven't in the past. I would log every one of the RID's you can as those will come in handy once the new IDPS S4 P25 is up.

What I'm hearing is not a good patch. It appears to be missing a portion of each transmission and the audio is somewhat distorted. Sounds like some fine tuning is needed.

Fire Control radio left Fire TG and went on a tour: to MA G1 > State Health Ops > Delaware Co Ops 1 > Grant Co EMA > Tipton Co EMA > Madison Co EMA > Madison Co Ops 1 stopped there.

Radio maintenance is doing more testing today on Safe-T Madison County Group. I've heard them doing countdowns mostly on TG 48 Law.

Apparently, the plan is to program the new radios (the ones that have been in storage for months) on the project safe-t network, then later (after the new dispatch center is built and more towers added) they will be switching to IDPS system 4 and re-programming everything at that time. I'm not sure what the target date is for moving everything over from the city UHF frequencies, but I think they hoping to do it fairly soon. The IDPS system 4 will more than likely be sometime in the spring of 2016.

Elwood police unit advised dispatch that they couldn't copy any radio traffic on their portables, all static. About 20 minutes ago.

The techs set a link from Elwood to Anderson to fix poor coverage around Elwood. The link RID is 52174, called JPS or GPS (location in Elwood ? School ?). It worked good at the time.
You Elwood people will have to find the MO freq.

Yes these HT's will be programmed with Legacy SAFE-T, then IDPS 4, and SAFE-T P25. Mobiles coming later along with the new repeaters etc.

FYI- Anderson fire department has been simulcasting on Safe-T, (Madison Co. 48 FIRE) TGID 37376. It is rather distorted, it sounds like it is over-modulated. I heard that the sheriff's office will be switching from their LTR system to Safe-T in a couple of weeks. This will resolve the issues with their out-dated radios. Apparently they have had a hard time finding parts for their current radios that were put in service in the early 90's. Eventually everyone in the county will be changing over to IDPS-4 in the spring. This should make for some interesting scanning.

I'm picking it up on the Anderson tower and it sounds decent for a patch. Anyone know when the MCSD plans to starting using Safe-T until their new radio system comes on line? I've heard Oct 1st but that seems way too early.

I believe Oct for both Anderson & Madison Co. I think they will then move the Anderson console and MC console & transmitters to N Jackson St. Probably first site up.

I've been told that MCSD is going to make the switch from LTR to SAFE-T on October 15th. AFD is simulcasting on the state network now, however they probably won't be switching over until sometime in the spring.
