Minor update

No major news to report on all week. I did hear a radio check on "Fire Control" freq by the radio techs, I was not quick enough to get the freq. Also hearing Medic 1 calling Medic 2 on "the new radio", I believe on 465.325 (& 460.250 WQFP297 - 155 50w MO units). {I dont know that these were Anderson units}. At 155 units, has to be interop freqs, right.

edit: wrong frequency corrected

Nope, no activity. I have two scanners going, one with DSC, one without. I think that when they do switch, it'l be all at once.

Testing

Are you noticing the squelch tail on at least one of the handhelds? Yes, I do have DSC programmed.

re:squelch tail

You know, I really did not notice much squelch tail, other then that data burst at the start or end of each tx. (btw, I have been watching the NASA Ch. and may be slow replying) Also if I remember right, 453.2 was used by CATS, was it not.

They were testing just before 2pm today. Sounds like they have the channels assigned. Hope someone had a recorder going.

"This is an EF Johnson LTR Multi-Net System.

The talkgroups were identified using the LTRUNK program (* besides talkgroups indicate positive confirmation of usage).
These talkgroups DO NOT correspond with talkgroup formats utilized in ANY currently available LTR trunking scanner.
The only way to "trunktrack" the system is to utilize the LTRUNK program.

The following agencies use this system:
Anderson Police
Anderson Fire
Anderson EMS
Anderson Emergency Management
Anderson Public Works and Utilities
Anderson Transit System (CATS)

868.8500 is the system control channel.
868.6000 unsquelches when other frequencies are active.
Both 868.6000 and 868.8500 do carry some voice transmissions.

The best method of scanning this system, other than using the LTRUNK program, is to use two scanners in conventional mode as follows:
- Program one scanner with all confirmed frequencies except 868.6000 and 868.8500
- Do Not Use Delay on ANY of these frequencies

- Program a second scanner with the 868.6000 and 868.8500
- Do Not Use Delay on EITHER of these frequencies
- Program 868.6000 as a PRIORITY channel
- Manually select/hold on 868.8500 and engage PRIORITY function of scanner
- You will hear constant the unsquelch on 868.8500, but if either frequency carries a transmission, you will hear the conversation. "

Shortly they will be switching to the conventional frequencies, I have no clue when, but I look forward to the switch

an update: sorta

There are more and more little carrier blurps as people get radios, some short conversations. Yesterday paging tones were heard on the "Control" ch. I have private email info and from what i've heard, 460.250 PL 141.3 ="Direct 1" & 465.325 PL? = "Direct 2". Licensed for 145 radios at 50 Ws, Mobile only.

Madison Co update: sorta

Madison Co EMA was out on I-69 the other night on a truck break down, took 4 or 5 hours of traffic control. They asked if they could use the new operations chs, was told no, not to be used yet.

Limited information

Anderson Fire Dept. informed their personnel last week that the new system would be on-line and switching to the new 400 Mhz within the next 30 days. However, this is the third time that the administration has stated "within the next 30 days."
