County or just Anderson?

Is Anderson PD and FD the only departments switching or are all departments in the county going to the "new" system. I live in the SW corner of the county and hear quite a bit of static.

Improve Reception Idea

Anderson police and fire are the only ones switching to the 450 mhz freqs . All others are staying basically where they are at. You may have noticed that PPD and EPD have changed frequencies due to rebanding.

County fire remains on VHF and you should have no problem with them.

If you want to improve Sheriff's dept reception use the south talk group on 800.

The scanner I had was a pro 91 radio shack scanner 800 meg mhz trunking . the volume was very low with the new system for AFD and APD so I went to the radio shack pro 82 scanner we live on the north side of anderson and we here traffic very well for APD . yes if the person is talking low it will be low but 95 % of the time it clear . good luck

A little after 9am, Control testing station speakers. Another thing I remember hearing: the audio on the repeaters is recorded, audio on direct chs is not.

Not impressed

I'm sure the signal is stronger with the Kenwood radios, however with my BCD396T I have found the signal to be weak, the audio is low, along with a lot of hissing in the background. I have even changed the factory antenna to a 400 Mhz antenna... still not impressed. I still struggle with the idea of Anderson going back to 400 Mhz. There is no question that the former 800 Mhz needed to go, but to go to the extreme measure of changing systems and still not have SAFE-T available is a waste in my opinion. It is a shame that politics has such a stronghold in our community. APD's cheif pushed for the new 400 Mhz system... I'm sure the fact that he worked for Lectro Communication prior to becoming cheif has nothing to do with it (LOL). Conflict of interest? I think so.

I believe Terre Haute and Anderson are sister cities :)

re: BOLF

Today is a good test for the new system. I just cought them using Direct 3, 458.125 (PD Tac 1). Now we'll see if PD uses Tac 1 or D-3.
