Once in a while law enforcement will reply “Code 1” or “Code 9” when the dispatcher requests a status check.

These are not 10 codes. The code I hear the most is Code 1, and when I put my Carnac hat on, I think it means all secure.

I found explanations of these codes for other jurisdictions on RR and Google but not local like Madison county or St. Clair county or local agencies in southern Illinois.

Any list of status codes around me?

Someone just updated the wiki. 😎

Code 1 - Routine (no Lights or Siren
Code 2 - Lights, No Siren
Code 3 - Lights & Siren
Code 9 - Officer is secure and the dispatcher repeats it so all the officers hear it (heard "Code 9 10-8 NRW")
