The licenses for Brookfield (158.745) and Cazenovia (154.980) Town Highway departments have expired. The Brookfield frequency was also listed as being shared with Brookfield School buses.

There are several CNYICC TGs assigned to Madison County Town Highway Departments. The Towns of Canastota, Fenner, Lenox and Sullivan are still listed in the RRDB as operating on VHF conventional frequencies that do have current licenses. Do any of these towns still use their conventional frequencies or are they now on CNYICC?

If the Brookfield VHF frequency is no longer in use, the school may now be on the Oneida Herkimer Madison School Cooperative MPT-1327 system.

A quick check of 154.980 showed activity from the Maynard Fire Department and Deerfield EMS. Both of these Oneida County groups were active late yesterday/early this morning. No sign of Cazenovia on this frequency. I have my 15X parked on this frequency and will check again tonight for any additional activity.

KLY837 Deerfield EMS, Deerfield, Town of

Note - Thanks to Oneida Lake, I can monitor almost everything in Madison County.

I'll monitor Brookfield (158.745) within the next few days, but my last note shows buses on 103.5 PL.

PL's of 156.7 & 186.2 for unknown DPW activities (may or may not be Brookfield).

As of December 2022 (last date verified), the only Highway conventional traffic monitored in Madison County was:

460.5250 D664 Canastota
159.1950 131.8 Fenner
156.1050 123.0 Lenox
156.1800 123.0 Nelson (expired, but was still in use)
155.8200 97.4 Sullivan

I heard the Town of Brookfield station on 158.745 this morning. The transmissions I heard were all related to the Highway Department. I can check the recordings later today to see if there are other users on this system. Fortunately I was able to hear the Morse ID of KEO306.

OK, so it is Brookfield Highway still on there with an expired license. So the only question is did the school buses move to another system?
Thanks for all the info on the Highway operations! The expired licenses situation made me suspect they had migrated to CNYICC.
I will update the info in the RRDB. I see we have the wrong frequency for Canastota, the wrong PL for Fenner and I will add Nelson. This info was all from a 2009 submission.

I'd check any wide-area commercial trunked systems for school buses. Many are migrating/have migrated to OneVoice or Adirondack 2Way.

In that area most school bus activity is now on Mobiletech or the JPJ or BOCES MPT-1327 systems as I mentioned in my original post

I just did a general editorial update of the Madison County RRDB to put the Alpha Tags and Descriptions in accordance with RRDB standards. Many of these entries were from a 2010 import and have never been updated.

These fire listings are in that category and present use is questionable. 460.625 is listed as "RM" but the FCC license is "FX0" which is an operational point to point link between the Fenner and Brookfiled tower sites. It does not appear to be relevant to the current operation and 465.625 does not appear on the license. The other frequencies are licensed for 30 portables only and are probably replaced by the current Tac channels unless retained for some special use. If there is no confirmation of the actual current use I will mark them Deprecated.
