It looks like Madison county may be taking steps to have the Volunteer Fire Departments countywide join the SRS.

Time to dust this thread off!

TG 50703-Madison County Fire Dispatch-Confirmed.

Norfolk Dispatch, Newman Grove Engine 30 enroute. Later, rescue enroute to Boone County Health Center in Albion.

I am not sure what the nature of the call was, as Madison county does not tone out over the air (Unication pagers??)

Reception of the Newman Grove site is still very spotty on my Pro106 with the 800mhz duckie antenna in southeast Norfolk.

Still nothing on my TRX 2 and the Pro 106 when attached to the attic antenna. I may be venturing upstairs this weekend to make a few tweaks.

I have noticed the Norfolk site does not have the signal strength that it used to

I get the Norfolk west 800 site fairly well where I am at, basement coverage is ok, there are a few spots that I get some dropouts. However the Norfolk east VHF does a better job in the basement and it's further away from me.

So far, the only TG I have logged for the VFD's is 50703 per the Pro96com. More than likely the VFD's all carry dual band radios. I have noted Battle Creek, Madison and Tilden all affiliate to the Norfolk West 800 when they are transporting to Faith Regional Hospital here in Norfolk. Other times, I have found this TG affiliating over to the Elgin, Humphrey, Norfolk VHF East, and Newman Grove sites.

Madison County rural departments do not use a radio type page system as of now. Most get it sent to a mobile phone.

Side note: I found this thread searching to find the talk around channels for Newman Grove. I have all the known fire channels programmed into my SDS100, but can’t ever hear talk around. I’m roughly 25 miles from Norfolk, and 15 from the Newman Grove tower. I can hear all PD/Sheriff clearly though.

So far, I have not logged any talk around TG's for Madison county fire. Either the TG's are not in use yet-through the Newman Grove site or other sites, or operate simplex-radio to radio. In that case, you would have to be very close to hear them. When I was at Irvington, there was talk around frequencies programmed into the radios, but were never used. During department training we would usually use Irvington A12, TG 367 in the radios. It went throught the ORION sites.

Not sure where you are located but assuming fairly close to my location. Having trouble grabbing off of the Norfolk PD/FD frequencies. I can hear the Madison county FD, and sheriffs extremely well.I can even grab Stanton County sheriff well. I’m using the sites/TGID off of RR. Am I just that far out of range? Assuming city of Norfolk runs off the Norfolk 800 tower?

All Norfolk City services are over the Norfolk 800 site. Norfolk Fire and PD do occasionally roam to the Norfolk VHF Site. Stanton County and Madison FD's roam over to the Humphrey site frequently. I am in Norfolk.

Going south of Norfolk, the 800 site is good to just south of Madison. Humphrey would be very hit or miss unless you are up high somewhere.
