Rob,
They just renewed their license on March 9th for 39.9, and 39.82. Yes they are still on low-band. If they move, which takes a lot of time, and energy I'll for sure let you know. You'd be talking about either replacing or upgrading a million radios, fire pagers, console at the 911 center, antennas, etc, so it doesn't just happen over night. And I'm sure someone will talk about them moving in the small towns.
More than likely it's just been a very slow week for them with no calls. (This can be a good thing). Where I'm at we do a fire pager communications test daily at 1800 hours (midnight UTC). I'm not sure like why Madison, Colfax, and places like that only do a fire pager test on a Friday, and not every day of the week at least. If it's a slow or quite week, and they only do a test once a week, how do fire personnel know their equipment is working correctly?
This is why I like to see a daily test. They should light up all the fire transmitters, test the pagers, and if the fire department has station alerting devices (the civil defense siren in some small towns) then ring it too. Test the entire thing out. =Þ
