MPD frequently goes 10-6 and switches up to a tactical frequency. All FCC licenses to Madison turn up nothing, and short of a constant scan between 450 and 500 mhz, I can't imagine how they would find it.

Does anyone have any ideas, or does anyone actually have the frequency.

Livingston does the same thing! Have you tried 476.325? I take it you're listening to 477.025?

Where are you listening from?

Rescue,

I am listening to 477.025. 476.325 is their secondary channel, and i've only heard them use that a handful of times when their primary repeater failed. The other two listed frequencies with the DPL tones also proves to be nothing. I know they just switch up their normal UHF radios to this "secret" channel, so it has to be in the same range as their current frequencies, and I know for a fact that it is not digital.

It's killing me.

I'll have to listen and post back. I have seen their cars and they do have VHF in the car, but it might be just for SPEN 1.

Listed in RR is 460.050 and 460.5125 as simplex, have you heard anything there.

When I first moved to Mount Olive the PD was using VHF 39MHz, but they had an unlicensed VHF Hi channel for talk-around. Sounds like the same circumstance here.

I found a local PD's "mystery" tac channel using close call on the Uniden BCD396T. I was monitoring them on their regular dispatch channel and one unit said, "switch up to Tac 1." I hit close call and bam, same voices on a different frequency. The funnier thing is an FCC check of the frequency showed nothing so the PD was transmitting on a frequency for which no license existed.

Another PD used the same frequency, but different PL for their tac. Their main channel was a repeater. I'd hear them say, "go to simplex" and I'd hear nothing. I always thought it was because they were on portable and I was too far away. When it fact the reason why was because I had their PL tone for the repeater programmed in and when they went to the tac it was a different PL. Go figure. The only reason I figured it out was because a friend of mine had an old radio shack no PL capable scanner.

460.05 is the old dispatch, when Madison first went to UHF.

460.2125R - Mobiles according to Scanner Master.

The close call isn't a bad idea, I'll have to try that once i (hopefully) get the 996T for xmas.

None of the frequencies listed anywhere (Scanner Master, here, FCC, the old Long Island Scanner Resources, nowhere) are the tac frequency. I guess they have to be using a frequency with no license.

I know it's not VHF, that has SPEN and a couple surrounding towns that are still on that band. Let's just say I've watched the cops switch up on their UHF's from Ch.1 to Tac. Even officers are curious as to what the frequency is.

I guess close call is my only option, I'll give that a shot after xmas.
