I was montering CPD city-wide 6 and 7 during the mag mile lights festavle last night, and I have to say the CPD dose a good job at handeling "special events," so hats off to CPD. That having been said, I woundered why the TMA's broadcast on city-wide 7 rather then on the OEMC trunking system? I though city wide 7 would be the cities equevelent of the state policies point to point system? So how on earth did the TMA's end up on city-wide 7? Thank you and stay safe.

Simple Answer

Because it a lot easier to coordinate operations for big event on one system (uhf or uhf digital) with a flip of a knob or push key then feeding 800 to uhf to vhf etc. Another reason for the citywide fire digital to be on uhf. If you have an available city wide repeater and the digital system fails for the fire, guess what their back up channel is on their uhf portables. More plug and play that way........fail safe.......
